Holistic Ecological Gardening

Following last year's successful course, we present an upgraded, and also more compact edition for April 2017
Your teacher will again be Chaym Feldman, master-gardener with over a decade of teaching experience in gardening and agro-ecology.
Participants will be immersed in 6 days of intensive learning and practice in the beautiful Cerca valley. The venue, Várzea da Gonçala, has already a well-developed productive garden, as well as a young, devoloping food-forest.
All aspects involved in the gardening process are covered, starting from soil improvement, composting, effective mirco-organisms (EM), bed preparation, irrigation, mulching, rotation, harvesting, and a lot more!
The focus is on food growing in small scale LEISA (low external input sustainable agriculture) style, integrating Daoist philosophy.
Also included, is how to create and maintain a food-forest in a mediterranean climate.

Monday, 10th April. Garden Infrastructure.
Tuesday, 11th April, Seed-saving, plant seeding and transplanting.
Wednesday, 12th April, Water management and garden irrigation.
Thursday, 13th April. Integrating annuals and perennials.
The 6 days are divided into practical and theoretic learning. The mornings belong to the practical and the after launch to the theoretic. Every afternoon we make a power food , and at night we watch a film or a short documentary about agro-ecology

The price for the course is €350, which includes all meals and facilities. Accommodation indoors is available for an extra €50 for the whole course duration. We are offering a discount of €100 for those who attend both the 24 March - 4 April Permaculture Design Course and this course.
