Grey Water Treatment
Saturday, 27th September 2014
If we think of our home as a living organism, then the grey water system acts as the liver and kidneys, processing the liquid and waste.
Várzea da Gonçala presents a complete workshop, designing and implementing a simple and effective grey water system.
Instead of paying to transport waste somewhere else and cause pollution or an expensive burden, our waste water from kitchen, washing machine or shower can become a valuable nutrient-rich resource, adding a life-enhancing system to the ecological garden.
The teacher is Arturo Whitelegg, seen here with his wife Daphna.
After working in the modern conventional agriculture in Argentina, and finishing his degree in Environmental Management, Arturo decided to move to Panama to study Permaculture in 2004. Since then, he practiced the method in several countries throughout Central and South America (04´-07), Portugal (07´-11´) and Israel (11´-13´). Observing and studying nature's and people's behaviour, seeking the most efficient way to implement permaculture in the different environments.
For the past few years he lived in Israel working at an ecological farm instructing Permaculture in English and designing sustainable systems, while studying and learning about sustainable living. Now he is back in Portugal.
The workshop runs from 9 am to 5 pm, and the price is €30 per person, which includes lunch and refreshments. Participants are also invited to a tour of our permaculture smallholding, and to stay and enjoy a social evening at Várzea da Gonçala.
