Bring Your Land to Life
This
is a one-day course, showing, through demonstration, theory, and hands-on
participation, how all land can be made productive, attractive, and fire-proof.
The lands of southern Portugal once were home to a diverse ecosystem of oak and medronho forest - quite different from the inflammable unproductive hillsides which areprevalent now.
By observation, learning about soil and water and how to provide nature with the right conditions, then planting appropriately, you can let them again become rich - and fruitful.
Our aim is to inspire you to look at your land with fresh eyes, to see that from what now may seem unproductive land or fire-hazard can be created a rich and evolving edible landscape.
The course uses Permaculture principles and design methods covering the following subjects, with a mix of theory and practice:
The course will run from 10am to 6pm with lunch and tea/coffee breaks, and dinner is provided at the end of the day.
The price is 40 euros, with all meals, and camping on Friday and Saturday nights, included.
We bake pizzas in our traditional bread oven on Friday night - if you wish to join us you are very welcome. Dormitory accommodation is also available by request for an additional 10 euros per night.
